What we learned · October 8

Research interpretation, added after EOD reconciliation. Four completed paper trades across CORE and SURGE are too few to justify a rule change. Gross results exclude fees; hypotheses below need prospective testing.

  1. SURGE: payoff matters alongside win rate. One win in three trades produced +$15.21 gross. The +$36.80 winner was about 3.4 times the average −$10.80 loss. At those exact average magnitudes, gross break-even win rate would be approximately 22.7%, before fees and other costs. One session does not establish future expectancy.
  2. Repeat entries deserve tracking. BYRN lost twice on October 8; JAGX had three losses on October 5. The existing two-loss same-symbol lockout limits further attempts, but the value of earlier re-entry restrictions is unproven. Track the pattern across the prospective sample.
  3. Order fills can change outcomes. BYRN filled 103 of 217 ordered shares, limiting the size of that loss. A separate AIXI attempt at 8:14 PT reportedly timed out without a fill; it is not counted as a completed trade. The five-second timeout should be evaluated across more orders before modification.
  4. CORE: cheap-option stop rounding matters. A $0.17 entry and $0.13 exit on 15 contracts produced −$60 gross, or −23.5% of premium. A nominal −20% stop implies $0.136, between one-cent option ticks; rounding to $0.13 explains the difference without proving slippage. The trade used $255 premium and 15 contracts, within the configured limits.
  5. SURGE-R: zero trades is a research question. The engine recorded no completed trades across its first two sessions. Its Candidate 6 filter may be restrictive, but that is not yet proven. The log-only bull-flag, micro-pullback and flat-top detectors installed after October 8 can identify alternative setups for review; they do not place orders or contribute to P&L.

Process check: The updated CORE cohort label and EOD auto-publication operated as intended. Next action: Continue collecting evidence without changing trading rules on this four-trade sample.

Evidence status

All contributing broker order quantities and averages must match unique fill activities. Stock multiplier is 1; only checked standard SPY option series use 100. Unknown/adjusted option metadata blocks results. Ownership inferred from a unique log match is labeled inferred.

Fees may post later and may lack fill IDs. All fees and net P&L remain pending. Cloud status is separate from broker-to-log reconciliation. No hypothetical price chart, post-exit profit or repaired-build performance is fabricated.

Keep code cohorts separate. Review daily and test/audit proposed changes while preserving the frozen trading builds.
